I have a USI drink machine that the compressor has went out on. I found a replacement that is exactly the same except only 3000 BTU when the original is 4000. will it still work?

Yes,No,Maybe ...... which usi machine do you have? Are you talking just compressor or the whole deck? Whats the model number of the new compressor? The only 4000 btu that I know of in usi was the cd7 and they where 1/2hp. The 3000 btu is probably a 1/3hp. If you can tell me what machine you have and which compressor you want to put in it I can probably help you. Compressors are rated in high, medium and low temp and high and low back pressure some are dual rated most are only single rating. A 3000 btu compressor will work in just about any drink machine made. If you do have 4000btu and its a 1/2 hp the 3000 1/3hp "will" work but may not last very long and will run alot more. Basicly the only difference with an older cd7 1/2hp and a newer cd7/5 or cd8 with 1/3hp is the evap is smaller. I have put 1/3 hp on an older cd7 evap and put a smaller condensor coil on it and it has worked very well. Just a thought.
