I have a Dixie Narco 440mc and after I finally got it to accept quarters by "training" it, it now vends any slot, but when you hit the #1 button, it is then stuck on that flavor, and as soon as you put the correct amount of money in, it automatically vends that slot? What did I do wrong?

I can think of two possibilites. Either the selection switch for button #1 sticks or the brake that stops the vend motor is not stopping the motor fast enough. The motor then drifts past the stopping point so when the selling price is reached it sees that motor in cycle and completes the vend sequence. Take the cover off of the motors and watch to see that when the #1 motor stops that the rear switch falls into the valley of the cam but that the cluster switch remains on the cam.If it also falls into the valley of the cam it has gone past the stopping point. Clean the break and spring with an electronics parts spray. That should take care of the problem. Good luck

Sounds like a drifting motor. Try homing or lubricating it with electrical cleaner, or replace the motor.

I took a look at the motor, and sure enough, motor brake was gummed up, and the switch was falling in the vally of the cam. I got the brake working fine, and the cam plate adjusted enough so that when I push the vend switch at the motor, it works correctly. Now it still takes coins properly, but the no response when you hit ANY of the buttons. Also I noticed that the bill acceptor every one in a while says " disconnected from coin mech".....any ideas now? Thanks for the help so far.

"cam plate adjusted enough" There should not have been any adjustment neccessary on the "cam plate" if motor was just over running "home position". Since everything was sort of running correct except for "over run" on one and that is what you worked on. I would check the triple switch mounted on the motor. Inside switch should be the lever in the notch. Double switch lever should be on cam. Since you were adjusting cams and levers check the middle switch, when adjusting you may have bent the double switch lever and the plunger on the middle switch maynot be depressed. Or something that is very common is the connector on the middle switch (red connector) may look to be connected properly but may have missed sliding in the spade connector and slid between the insulator I promise my very experienced trained eye has to look at least 3 times before I see it. If you tried turning the motor manually backwards while the plungers were in the notch you bent the the lever and the middle switch plunger is not depressed. Just a thought.
