I have an older pepsi machine and the coin dispenser is going out on me. periodically, it would just give a free soda, now it is happening more and more, until finally today, it wont take any money. i want to see if it would be worth it to buy a new mars coin acceptor or have it repaired.

the problem i am facing is i dont know what to look for online. are all mars coin acceptors the same? i have attached pictures, and it shows the dispenser ( i cant tell what the model number is) any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have a link to 4 pictures: they show the connector, front, side (with partial model number and serial number) and teh back that lists what i may need. thanks again guys! you have all been great.

Hi John,  I can exchange this coin mech for you for $85.00 plus shipping.  I would also need to know the model of bill acceptor to ensure the replacement coin mech has the proper bill acceptor harness on it.

Because it is still mounted to the coin mech door I can tell this is out of a Vendo soda machine.  You need to confirm a couple of things for me before we decide the coin mech is the problem.  When you said it periodically gave free soda, do you mean you would put the money in and it would give the money back and still vend, or give credit and vend more than one can from one column, or give credit and  allow selections from more than one column or some other symptom?  These details will help me determine if something else is wrong.

I have added new pictures that show the front of the machine, the inside, and the door. I don't have a bill acceptor on it, but if that is an option that is easy to do, I would like to do it.

So specifically what happens is this:

on an infrequent basis, you would put in 50cents (price I sell a can of soda for) and the machine would take the money, you would then select the soda, and then the machine would give you back 50 cents after the soda dispensed. sometimes you would put in 50 cents, select a button and nothing would come, motor wouldn't turn and you would have to put in 50 more cents and then press the button and then the motor would finally move and give a soda. now, when I put in 50 cents, the quarters go through the machine and right back out the coin return slot and don't even get accepted. I hope that helps.

Here is the link with all the pictures (model# of the machine I believe, inside, and outside of the machine.) thanks Randy.

as of note as well, this didn't just happen with 1 slot, it would happen with any slot and any soda that would not work or give 50 cents and get a soda plus your change back. thanks

This sounds like the problem is all in the coin mech.  There is a slight possibility that you have a motor switch problem as well, but that would be a separate issue.  The coin mech is what decides to pay change out, especially the same .50 you put in to purchase with.  This machine would have to have a hole cut into the upper part of the door for a validator and then it's still a tight squeeze to get one to fit.  You would have to decide if you want to do that much work to the machine.  I'm guessing your machine has a vending mechanism called "lowering shelves" and that your motors have green and white cams on them.  If I'm right, you should not put much money into it, as it is very obsolete.  I junk that model of Vendo due to problems with the vending mechanisms.  Hopefully yours works well.

Do you want me to send you the coin mech?  I will also email you a copy of this to make sure you get it sooner.  The Vendiscuss.com forum is much better than Vendingchat.com and there is a ton of activity there.

yeah, the machine was one I actually replaced at a good stop because it was having these issues and a couple of slots (3 of the 8) have problems (either not dispensing, or cam rotors, etc). I was looking at this machine to put into an apartment with a bunch of friends of mine and would not be for retail. I got the machine for free and would like to get the coin mech just because im not worried about the appearance. that would probably be the total amount I would put into it and if anything else breaks to make it non-usable I would just junk it.

if you could send me the invoice for the coin mech and begin proceeding that would be great. thanks for the help Randy.
