I have an Mei CF7512i changer that is dead. In Service for about 3 years. No Display. Won't take coins. No Credit.

I took it apart to do a visual on the board. Nothing stood out. No burnt spots or anything.

You can pick these up on Ebay for about $200 or less for a refurbed one. Just wondering if its worth sending it in or just keep for spare parts?

Do you still have power to your bill validator and credit display? Can you make any purchase will bills?

I can exchange the bad coin mech for less than $200. Send me a PM if you're interested.

PS: There are no user servicable parts inside and you can break many parts trying to take it apart which will cost more when repairing it.

Thanks for the response.

Yes it still had power to the bill validator and credit display. It would allow purchase with a bill, but would not give change. If I remember right, it was throwing a Changer Communication Error. I put in a new changer and it worked perfectly. So wiring/plug issues can be ruled out.

Is it possible the ribbon cable from the MMI to the board was just loose and wasn't making connection. When I took it all apart, it seemed like it pulled away from the board pretty easily. Actually it pulled away when I removed the MMI.  I may try plugging the changer back in to see if it starts up. Maybe that was the issue. I'll let you know.

Thanks for the heads up on taking it apart. Your right, It wasn't easy to figure out, but on the other hand, it wasn't impossible.

If you might have bad connections in the changer you don't want to plug it in to the machine now because it could blow up your validator or control board.  It needs to be repaired, plain and simple.
