Hi, everyone. New both to this forum as well as to the vending business. I am a US Army spouse and my husband and I chose to invest part of his enlistment bonus (for selling his soul) into 25 triple vend machines from XYZ Trading. We are still waiting for the delivery but in the meantime, I have been trying to locate the machines myself. I figured that hiring locators would be a waste of money when I could do telemarketing as well as going to locations myself.
Is this the right way to go? I made phone calls yesterday and did not get very good responses. I even mentioned the charity which is the National Children's Cancer Society. Either they had machines already or I had to leave messages (mainly at car dealerships) or some locations think candy machines are too messy. Called about 20 locations. Maybe going there personally would get better results? Any suggestions? Has anyone tried vending gourmet mints at bars?

First off, Thank You and your Husband for Serving Our Country!! Family members are very important to our troops!

When I first started out I got 10 XYZ Vend Pros and Bulk Pros. The Bulk Pros are pretty heavy to move around. I have never had problems with any of the machines I have from got from XYZ vending with One Exception. When the Bulk Pros arrived some were scratched. The guys at XYZ Vending do go out of their way to make things right. I now have my Vend Pros in small locations like hair saloons and barber shops. The Bulk Pros I have at Auto repair and body shops. They take some abuse from the guys but have never broken. I have mostly Uturn machines now (227 Machines). I have some of my double head Vend Pros making more than the expensive Uturn. Locations make the difference.

A good cheap way to get started is to order some Vend Pros and stands. Make you some double headed stands and go for it.

Good Luck to you and let me know if I can be anymore help.

Its been my experience that there is nothing like personally going up to the decision maker face to face and talking to them. I am new at this too, but this is the aproach I am going to be using. I am going to take a full machine in and ask to see the decision maker. When I meet the decision maker I will introduce myself and company and ask if he could find a place to put this machine which helps support the National Children's Cancer Society, and hand him the flyer. It puts something in his hands...He can see the machine in his shop, and feel like he is doing something good all at the same time. Its good to have a dolly though. A full three globe machine weighs about a 100 lbs.

I almost forgot to say this. God bless military spouses, my wife is one and it is one of the hardest jobs out there. Transitioning from an active duty military spouse to an National Guard spouse was pretty tough for her though. She wants to strangle the traditional guardsmen wives because they don't quite get the military lifestyle, but that's a whole different topic. Good luck!

I have been in vending for going on 10 years now and ALWAYS locate myself.
What I do is , I have a pic of the machine with me and a list of products that I can offer .
I go in and ask to speak to the owner or manager .
I show them the pic ,b/c if you don't they think you have a huge coke machine are something .
I tell them that I own the machine and will service it and there is no cost to them .
I do have the Nat. Children Cancer Sco. so I tell them about that . All they can say is YES or NO !!

need more help please feel free to ask me .

Any tips or pitches for those who don't use a charity? Do you give a commission? And if you do give commission is it for the sale or profits only? I still have 10 bulk vending machines to lacate and any tips would be aprecciated! thanks

I'll have to say that I began locating myself but it just took too long.

Like you Angela I started calling and then going to places, etc. I never had much luck although I did place my first 20 machines by myself. After that I hired a locator and now I have around 100 locations.

Good luck.

XYZ is a good company with great prices. However, I think you will find that you don't enjoy the triples as much as you thought you would. They are very heavy and it's hard to switch out product.

Come visit my sites!

Welcome, and my heart goes out to your husband who is protecting us.

Now, I have MANY XYX triples, all in Break rooms. There great machines, you should like them. What sets them apart from Gumball Machine Warehouse, Seaga, and all others at look like them is:

COIN MECHS!!! There very nice. XYZ went and redesigned the coin mechs from china, and there made from GOOD materials, as with others that look like them, have the crap stuff. If you want a triple go with XYZ, for ANY type. Canister, Chrome, Regular, USE THEM 1st for TRIPLES ONLY!!!!!!

Angela_natalia: If you will email me, I will send you a bunch of EBOOKS (some short, some over 200 pages), that should help you with locating!!
