Hi,

I am in the process of setting up a small vending route, and I am starting out with about 4 machines. I am new to the business and I wonder if any one uses contracts to lock in your locations? I guess there are pros and cons to this...I'd be stuck with the location if it isn't performing, and if I don't put a contract in place, someone else could negotiate to pay more of a commission, and take my location.

Also, is there a web-site that will allow me to download a basic vending contract if I decide to use them? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Candybiz, this is something that has been discussed before in this forum. Click this link... there is a lot of discussion about contracts in it: http://www.vendingch...amp;hl=contract

You can also click "Search" and type in "contracts". You will get several threads that contain the word "contract" somewhere in the thread. You'll have to sift through it to find what you're looking for, but it's there.

Just for a quick answer I think that contracts are a terrible idea. The only reason I think this is because I believe that if my account is not happy then they should drop us. Its hard to lose an account and we try our best not to let this happen, but when it does it makes you realize how easy it is to let this happen. Sometimes its nesisary for it to happen and besides those contracts really dont hold much water in court. Are you going to sue? are they going to take you to court? Its doughtful and not worth it and becuase of that it just makes it a piece of paper. I could maybe understand a 700+ people account but even then the person in charge isnt going to sign anything unless its a piece of paper saying you are going to pay them way to much commision.

Great answer, Kevin. :D I totally agree. Contracts are really worthless, except for maybe stating who is responsible for what. Other than that, if the account wants you out of there, you're out of there - contract or not.

Thanks, all! Your answers make sense. As a newbie, it's nice to know I can come here and get good answers to my questions. I'll be posting often. Thanks again!
