When I brought my wife to the hospital to have our little girl in the middle of the night, the 40 select snack machine on the bottom floor was empty. The next morning I went down to the first floor to meet someone and there was someone filling the machine. By the end of that day it was empty again (and I mean empty with 2 or 3 items left). I'm sure that drink machines do just as well because there are about 5 drink and 5 snack machines plus refrigerated snack machines on just about every floor.
Long story short, hotels are the best places I know to get into. I don't have enough insurance coverage or machines right now to fight my way into an already crowded place. I would suggest you try if you think you can get into a hospital.
I have a hotel that I check two times a week and I make around $50 each time I go. You will make more money during holidays or anytime they more people. This is a two story hotel and I have the only snack machine in the building.

What I have noticed in all the hotels I have stayed in the past 2 years is there are no vending machines. Rather there are swipe card fridges that you access with your room key, then it is billed to your room at vastly inflated prices.

Besides having snacks, the snack machine that I have at this hotel has over the counter medicine also (Tylenol, Pepsid, and Alka-Seltzer). I also asked if I could put any travel items like tooth paste, toothbrush, shampoo, etc. but she said she didn't think that it would be a good idea. I know they offer those things at the hotel but I'm sure that there is something else non food that I could have put. Also beware of the franchise rules. This place has to follow rules that dictate everything they can do or sell. They offered to clean my snack machine as part of the cleaning process each day and it is nice that someone besides me wipes down my snack machine.
I didn't ask about the refrigerator in the room though. I'll have to see what they offer to customers. Thank you for the idea

What I forgot to mention was these fridges arn't located in individual room, but rather in the lobby or on each floor near the lift heads or similar just like a regular vending machines. Basically they are just extensions of the minibar. I'm sure the thinking of the hotel chains is why should a third party vendor make any profit from our customers, we should be the ones gougeing our guests.
