Chip Brands

On a side note, I have had lots of problems recently with chip bags being opened in the box due to bad seals. I would kind of expect this in the heat of summer, but not now. It seems to be worse with Sunchips, Doritos, and Chees-its. Are you guys seeing the same?

As I get changed over to buying from Vistar, I am consider dropping Frito-Lay chips and going to Herrs. I know brands may vary alot depending on where you live, but does anyone else sell another brand (other than Frito-Lay) as there main chip selections? I can sell a 1.5oz bag of corn chips from Herrs for the same price as a 1oz bag of fritos and pay 2 cents less for them.

Hi Jeremiah,
I don't recall seeing Herr's on my Vistar pricelist. I'll have to look for it. I kinda get the feeling, though, that brand awareness may inhibit Herr's sales to some extent. I don't know. It would certainly be worth trying an item or two of Herr's just to see. However, it would be nearly impossible to give up Jalepeno Cheetos (which sell like absolute crazy), Cheetos and Lay's plain, which also sell like crazy, at least for me.
I haven't noticed bad seals as much on snacks, but I sure have on some of my cold-food items. I've had a horrible time with that on my last order.

I know of a company near me (not really competition though) that has switched brands. I would just do it for the corn chips, plain and BBQ potato chips. I will be picking up the Herrs BBQ corn chips today and give them a try.

Frito Lay unfortunately owns the market out there. I do however rotate my stock and have alot of success with diff brands. Customers are always looking to try something new and this how to market your business. Having said this, they let me know what their preferences are and I always accomodate even if it means pulling a product out.I know of a company near me (not really competition though) that has switched brands.
