Long time no talk...... I am looking at another route, this time just one stop. The machine is a sea breeze combo and I think it is the one with 23 snacks. Does anybody know how many items of chips or candy each row holds? I think it's 6 bags of chips per row and 12 candy per row, I really need to go back and look. They have no bookkeeping to look at and when I went to visit they pulled out 105.00, that was for 4 days since they filled up last ( or so they say ) While I was there looking at the machine 4 people came in to buy snacks and they tell me they have to go to this site every 5 days to refill. There were 4 snack slots already empty. It all looked pretty good, but who knows. They tell me I should never net less then 400 a month from this machine and I know the rule of thumb is the net is usually half the gross. I got him down to 5K for the stop and the machine which is 1 yr old. I figure it's a risk, but I need to add some money into my household and if it does not work out I can always sell and hopefully make back my investment. Ok, now that I rambled I am loking for feedback and thru numbers of snack ability on this machine. Thanks everybody.

Wow, 5k is alot! I would not pay that much for that machine regardless of the location (which he has no documentation to support). If he has no way to document the income I would not pay more than a couple hundred dollars more than the machine value (value not new cost, I call it ebay value:).

A seabreeze combo is just a USI machine. One year old is probably worth about $2400. If it is the 23 selection machine it should hold 10 chips and 18 candy for each selection.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, I forgot to add:

The 50% cost of goods sold is a achiveable target for the vending industry, but is not always the case and sometimes not even remotely. I see lots of vendors that are not making money right now because they havn't raised prices in years.

I had a call from a guy wanting to sell two locations that where doing about $800 a month total. He had USI combos that were 10 years old and wanted 5k for all. He had candy and pastry at 60 cents and chips at 40 cents. He kept saying "but look at the good locations". My response was "it looks like alot of work for free". He is moving a out of town in two months, I told him to call when he wanted to actually sell them and I would give him 2k.

I guess what I'm saying is the price settings are very important. Its not that easy to take over an account and raise prices without proving your service level over time first.

It does seem like a lot of money, they were asking for 6900 for the stop. They sell candy at .90 and chips at .70 and soda at .85 . I'm in NY so I don't know if that is part of the reason why their asking price is so high. I orginally offer 4500 and we setteled on 5K. Hmmmm.... too much, now I am having second thoughts. I just need to start bring in extra income and its hard to find what looks like a decent deal around here.
Please keep the imput coming.

Those look like great price setting. I wish I could get that here.

Are you in NY City, or NY State?

Lets assume that the machine value I estimated is right since I don't think that varies too much across the country, is the location worth $2500 alone? If you hired a locating service would you pay them $2500 to get you a location like that?

I think that the income and price settings look good, but I think that 5k is still too much to spend to find out if the guy is lying or not.

Have you checked the non-resettable cash counter to verify the income?

Just my thoughts.

I live near the city on Long Island. I told they guy I wanted to wait a little longer since they were looking for a deposit from me that I could not get back if I changed my mind. I told him I would touch base with him again in the beggining of July and if they already sold the route then it was my tough luck. I figure if the route is still around in a month I may try to get the price down some and I will also go and look at the machine again to see what the counter says.
