Ok, so I saw an ad for a route that is in one location. It has 5 machines 3 soda and 2 snack. The owner said it grosses about 7K per yr and nets between 3200 and 3500. I can service the route any time even weekends or nights which is perfect since I have a day job. He said I would need to service the route every week or week and a half. He also has book keeping on the route which is nice. The machines are a National 4 wide, USI 3 wide, and 3 Dixie Narco soda machines, I believe there is a Snapple front, Coke front, and a Poland Spring front. He does not know how old they are. His asking price is 6500.00. It all sounds pretty good to me. What do you guys think? I was thinking if I did buy the route maybe I can get a few combo machines in and sell the other machines to make some more money and maybe save them some space with 4 machines.

Ask the owner for the model number and serial numbers of the machine. Contact the manufacturers and they can tell you the age of the machines and if they still support the machines with parts. Also find out what prices he sells his products at. If his prices are too low you might find yourself going in and having to be the heavy looking for a price increase right away. What type of l;ocation is it? Will it survive the current economic times. Five machines are a lot to move and store if the place closes up. Are the owners happy with the current vendor and are they ok with you taking over. You don't want to find out that they have asked him to leave or they are considering a change. What is the owners reason for selling? How long has he had the route? Do you have to pay commission to the location? If so how much?

If you are convinced his numders are legitimate try 60 -75% of the gross sales for your offer. He is a little high at 90% of gross.
