We have just begun a route with 4 drink and 3 snack machines in 4 bldgs with about 50-70 people per building. We have been servicing them for about 3 weeks and have some of the chips expiring soon. Just wondering what the usual amount of expired products we could expect. As we are still fine tuning the product line some chips and snacks aren't moving well even when we move them from one building to another. Any advice on this?

If this is your only account. You should expect about 25%... I have over 100 machines and I'm running about 3-5% on chips, but I run a little higher on candy and pastry because of the warmer weather.

Why are you dumping candy? Is from melting in the machines?

Sometimes... I have some outdoor accounts, machine is cooled but direct sunlight cuts life. I'm also based in the desert area of southern california... so heat is a problem @ 120 degrees... We have to have battery operated freezers in trucks because the interior of the truck can heat up to 100 degrees in less than 10 mins.

What kind of battery operated freezer do you use? I looked into thermoelectic, but could not find one that I was happy with. I use a free non-working upright freezer from craigslist. I ripped all the guts out of it, but left the shelves in it and use it as a big cooler. I throw 1-2 ice packs in the door and its good all day, but I'm not in the desert :)
