We have a few accounts where the employees are shaking the snack machine - at times we have bolted the machines to the wall, but one location will not allow it. Has anyone used alarms or any other deterent? I need a good alternative here
:(

We've had several vendors use alarms on their machines and in 90% of the cases it has stopped it as long as the management is willing to punish those that are caught. In some cases, the manager is not concerned and the alarm is not as helpful. If your location's manager is just one of the boys, forget it; but if you can talk to him and share your concerns seeing that he is also upset, the alarms will work.

Hi...I'm in the security industry and could see using a "pin" hole camera (approximately 1/8" drill needed) and a recorder you see in Police cars. Typically you get 2 days of archival.

You can pull the hard drive out and review the people shaking the machines for identification.

Hope this helps.

Is the location worth it? I think that if I was losing product and/or encountering repair problems, I would have to tell the contact that if it were allowed to continue, I would be pulling my machines. How much can you be making if you have to constantly repair or replace stolen stock?

We always bolt the machines together so they can't shake one unless they can manage to shake them all at once. Once you line the machines up just drill a hole on the side of the machines and get a long bolt and some lock washers to keep them tight. It's usually best to put a bolt at the top and one at the bottom. The fall back to that is your machines have a hole in them if you were to ever put them at another location. We do it to all banks of equipment we have mainly to keep the machines lined up and looking nice. You can also bolt a bracket that holds the machines together at the top, one side of the bracket on one machine and the other side on the other machine.

Just a suggestion!

I've seen people shaking machines at my night job.. They do it for 2 reasons. They shake it if thier snack or can of pop doesn't fall, or if they think they can get a 2 for 1 deal on Mountain Dew (slot gives 2 away sometimes). I won't shake a machine after hearing that my uncle, not the brightest guy in town, flipped one over on himself and broke his leg.

As for a real solution, I hear the do not shake the machine stickers work well. I think you've probably seen them. They have a picture of a guy with a machine falling on him.
