I'm interested in getting into vending and I asked a few questions in the Snack and Soda section; I'm interested in growing a vending business large enough to return significant income. In your opinion, is it easier to do this with snack and soda machines or bulk vending machines?

Also, how many vending machines can one person really have? And how quickly can one expand in the bulk vending business?

Let's say your average location returned $10 per month; so if you own 1000 locations, wouldn't that be $10,000 per month?

Thanks for your answers

Eagle I believe any single one person can really handle 300 to 400 vending machines with ease. If you are looking for money that is more passive and that doesn't require a lot of day to day work then bulk vending is for you. I visit my machines once a month and I have over 190 machines. If you want a job then go to soda and snack. Soda and Snack requires you to maintain your machines at least once a week to keep your customers happy. Yes you won't need as many machines to make money but your money will not be as passive as bulk vending. I work three of four times a month for 190 vending machines. You couldn't say that if you had 10 soda and 10 snack machines.

When I had only single gumball locations, I was able to do about 15 locations in a day. You *MAY* do better, but you may do worse too. Depending on the kinds of bulk products you are selling, you can expand your service times to 2 or 3 months. So if you are doing only gumballs (and maybe toys) you may only be doing half your locations each month. Divide 500 by 15 and you can see it would take you an average of 33 days a month that you would be servicing your machines. There are at most 31 days in a month, so you can see the logistical problem with doing large numbers of bulk locations.

Locations that do $10 a month may be considered bad locations. The national average for bulk vending is 1 vend a day per product. That's mostly for candy tho, not toys. So if you did the average with a 3 head machine, then you can prolly expect about $21 in sales for candy as an average. A $10/mo single gumball location is a pretty good location, and you can do it about every 2 months.

So a gumball location will pull about 25 cents a day in a good spot?

What is your highest performing location? Lowest?

Thanks for the replies. Any info I gather will help.
