I have Dixie Narco 8 selection machine. For some reason selection 4 and 5 are out of service. Whats seemed to happened is that the micro- arms on both motors are stuck at the same spot and are not finding their "home" positions. It seems strange that this would happen to both motors right next to each other at the same time. This would make me think that it is a problem with the board and not the motors? Does this seem right? Or, is there another explaination that I could be missing?

Thanks for the help,

Justin

They might be stuck in a half cycle. Can you just lift the metal arm up slightly and see if they will complete the full turn. Also check and be sure nothing is jammed in that column. Sometimes a can will hang up and jam the arm.

Hope that helps.

There is another possibility. I have found that when there are two motors doing the same thing at the same time, then there maybe a connection problem some where. I would first check to make sure that you haven't partially unplugged the connection at the board. Some times when bills are collected out of the validator, you can mistakenly stress the harness that controls the motors at the board if the board is mounted over the validator. The harness plugs in on the left side of the board, either vertical or horizontal I can't remember, and there isn't much slack. Just press the harness back in to re-seat. Next I would check the molex connector near the lower hinge of the door. It is usually behind the metal box mounted on the door side, near the lower hinge. Just remove the two screws holding the box on and you will find one or more molex connectors there with a number of wires going to and from the connectors. I have found that sometimes the strain relief doesn't always work well and some of the pins slightly pull out. check both sides. You can gently pull each wire at the connector. If one or more are not seated well then they will pull out. They should not pull out. If they do, look at each one and make sure that the back-out hook is flared out and not bent in. If it is bent in the "GENTLY" pry it out with a straight pin. They can break if weak. Only pull on one wire at a time. You do not want to pull multiple wires out and not know where they go. Also the molex connector may be up in a sheath and hard to get to. You may have to split the sheath open to get at the molex connector, and then tape it back up. I hope this helps.
