the company i work for offers the route drivers 2 bonus programs.
1st every 10 weeks they get a days pay if they have not called in sick or taken a day off without using
a vacation day.
2nd if the route throws and money taken in are within a set percentage they receive a $50 or $100 bonus each month when these are met.
Does anyone out there offer bonuses to route drivers and if so how are yours done?
the reason i am asking is that out of our drivers only about 20% of the driver are getting a bonus each month and it almost always is the same ones.
Thanks

Ram,
It boils down to a personal decision. I don't have route drivers or own a company like it sounds you do. However, common sense does tell me that it may be a good idea to offer a bonus to your people so you can make your employee's feel like not only do they have a higher earning potential but it creates more productivity I think. In the end, my suggestion would be to keep a balance between the two -- meaning -- if productivity is unchanged and you're still paying out the bonuses then it may just be a kind gesture at that point. Hope that helps.
