They make chip extractor tools that reach under each end of the unit, however there are various sizes. You may be able to find them at a Radio Shack. Digi-Key is a huge electronics supplier and you could get one there. We change them all the time in our repair shop and the techs just use a small screwdriver. You must be very careful and slow. Ease up each end a fraction of an inch and it will eventually come out. Patience is the key. I would not do it with a board in the machine using a screwdriver. If you don not feel comfortable, get the chip extractor. It is just as easy to bend the pins when inserting a chip as well. Make sure all the pins are in the connector and slowly apply even pressure. Hope this helps.

I ave one made for the chips in cars that was given out by Chevy in the early years but is a little small for coffee machine chips. By the way coffee machines are a pain!
