I am about to buy a few pepsi and coke machines off from a guy with routes. he told me he owns all machines (not leasing).
the reason he owns them because those company will fix the machines fast with no cost as long as he gets soda from them.
i am planning not to get soda from Pepsi or Coke company.
is it risky to buy from this guy if i don't buy soda from coke company? will pepsi or coke company take the machines back?
how do i find out he owns the machines instead of leasing them?

DONT BUY THE MACHINES. Sounds like he is a 3rd party vendor. Coke and Pepsi would own the machines. Get the Serial numbers off the machines and call Coke and Pepsi. They will confirm who's machines they are. Good luck and be careful..

It is not unheard of for both Coke and Pepsi to sell off vendors that end up in private company hands. A company I worked for long ago bought 5 tractor trailer loads of the were former Pepsi vendors.

Like minivend said get serial numbers and if possible what is called a asset number and call the bottler and ask them to verify them. If the bottlers say they do not own them just get a bill of sale with the serial numbers on it and that will help protect you if something comes up later.

Sometimes their may be a decal that will have a 1-800 number but they may not. After you get the serial numbers contact you local bottlers and ask them Also ask the bottler if their is another bottler in the area. Sometimes you will have a few Pepsi and Coke bottlers within a 100 mile radius that the machine could have came from.

Another problem is some bottlers have so many vendors out with bad paper trails that they themselves dont know where all their machines are. So even if you call and it really is theirs they may not really know.

What is the guy asking for the machines? Do you get the location also or just the machine?

Are you currently in vending?

Depending on make and model that is high. I assume they accounts are dogs or he wouldnt be selling them. I would pass on them if it were me.

I am sure he has. Did he list these on craigslist? You can by nice decent vendors for around $600 to $800 or less on the used market not on locations. These machines would be Dixe Narco, Royal, Vendo for that pice range. Or for that $1200 price you can buy refurbished machines with a warranty.
