Hello Everyone!

I got into the bulk vending business earlier this year. I read several books, one of which was Vending Success Secrets by a guy named Bill Way. In his book, he was trying to get me to buy his U-Turn vending machines. I signed up for his email listings and he sent me several pieces of information, including an offer to join his mentoring program. I decided to take him up on the mentoring program and spent an hour and a half on the phone with him. He let me know that he works with a company that sells ad space on the 8 selection U-Turn vending machines.

He sent me a power point presentation with the following figures.

8 advertising spaces/ machine x $25/ month per ad x 6 (ad space is sold in 6 month blocks) x 30 machines = $36,000 every six months

I thought, okay, I can do that.

I have spent the last 7 months saving for, and buying 30 U-Turns so I can get this advertising thing going. Now, I can't get the guy to answer my emails, and I'm getting a little frustrated.

I am wondering if anyone out there has any experience on this, or would be interested in doing this. To me, it seems silly to re-invent the wheel when there are probably people out there already doing this, but I can't seem to find them.

If you have any information, or would be interested in collaborating please let me know!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks!

Did you pay the guy money for anything? It really sounds like some sort of scam to me, I've never even heard of people advertising on bulk vending machines, that doesnt mean they don't do it I've just never heard of it. Also I hope you didnt buy the machines direct from u-turn :P

I've never heard of advertising on a U-Turn, but I think I can guess how it's done. The key making this work would be the ability to get the advertising accounts. I think the really hard part to all this is getting the location owner to allow it. I would assume that you pay a flat rate to the location for the privilege of placing a uturn in their location, right?

You really have to ask yourself if you want to get into the bulk vending business, or the advertising business. The U-Turns are expensive and hugely unsuccessful machines because the only configurations they offer are 4 or 8 selections, and most locations cannot support that many selections. You will suffer a lot of product spoilage. Additionally, I do not think they can vend toy capsules, so you will be limited to only candy and gumballs.

Yes I heard about this the guy that makes these advertising things that go on top of the uturn contacted me a couple of months ago because he wanted me to promote his idea to my email list. I'm not saying it won't work but you just have to be a go getter and get businesses to pay you for helping them advertise. I decided not to promote the item, but it is a good idea and another way to add to your bottom line on your vending route. Let me know how it goes and if you can make it a success.
