If any of you small vending companies like myself is approached by national companies that manage vending machines to join their business.....JUST SAY NO! They want a percentage of YOUR HARD EARNED LABOR while they sit back and DO NOTHING! We need to UNITE and if enough of us do it, they will get the message and back off.

Doing business with a management company is not all bad. I`ve done business with several off and on over the years as opportunities have arisen and for the most part I`ve been satisifed. They give me accounts and I give them a % of receipts, its no different than paying commission.

i guess i hear what ur saying but they are doing sales and soliciting accts on your behalf that is certainly worth money based on the fact if you had a FT sales guy employed you would have to pay them similarly

There are pros and cons to everything in business. Management companies provide a service generally to large chain company owned business's (I.E. Bus terminals). They take control of vending operations for the company eleminating possible corruption by a manager dictating commissions and pricing. The biggest issue I have had in dealing with management companies they usually require a very large certificate of insurance for injury and product liability (1 million) which puts a small vendor out of the realm of reality. Most larger vending companies carry that amount already because of their exposure. You just have to weigh each location accordingly. I have found by the time they contact a small vendor they are having problems locating a vendor to handle the location generally because its not enough volume for a larger company. You must remember they are also under contract to find a vendor everything is negotiable. just a thought.

Honestly I think it would be something I would consider. Though I am extraordinarily "green" in the vending industry, I have been in business quite some time, my landscaping business I used to have would be one of the ones that would not handle a situation as there was not enough in a project due to regular overhead. Also consider, it is a way to further expand your business. Granted you will pay a cost, however, they will handle the leg work. As was mentioned, the sales person position is eliminated, the added cost of consumables is eliminated, such as added fuel, wear and tear, and most of all time.
