Hey everyone!! I bought a snack vending machine from a retiring coworker. I have had it for over a year and haven't experienced many problems. Recently, I discovered a coin jam in the TRC-6000 coin op. I cleared the jam and immediately afterwards it would not accept coins. They would fall to the coin return. I attempted resetting the machine by unplugging from the wall power source. It worked for a few hours but then stopped accepting coins again. This went on for a few days. In frustration, I unplugged the coin op from the machine while the machine was still on. (Ill come back to this in a minute). I also pushed some buttons inside that said reset. The buttons were side by side on what appears to be some type of mother board. This deleted all the pricing in the machine. I set up the pricing again and continued to have the intermittent vending.

I then began to experience the machine accepting money but not registering, both bills and coins. Sometimes the there would be up to a 10 seconds delay before registering. I contacted a local vending repair company. He had sold his vending company but offered to take a look hearing that this machine was in a police facility.

Of course when he arrived the machine worked flawlessly. Based on the information I had given him he suggested replacing the coin mech. He also mentioned that I may have shorted the coin mech by unplugging the mech from the machine with the power still on. I held off on doing that thinking it could be a bigger problem since the bill acceptor would take bills and not register the money.

I contacted another area MEI/Mars authorized repair facility and he agreed it didn't think it was the coin mech. Having been off for a week for a funeral I told him when I get to work I would confirm the exact symptoms and call him back.

I returned to work that night and the machine worked properly for the next two weeks. Currently, the machine will accept bills but not register on the machine and the coin mech keeps dropping g the coins to the coin return.

Sorry for being long winded but I know more info is better than incomplete info. Would anyone have any suggestions based on the above conditions?? Your help is appreciated!!!

Also, it is not uncommon for coworkers to shake the machine to retrieve vending items that may have been stuck.....

Your problem may not be and probably not the coinmech if you could tell us what kind of snack machine it is I could probably confirm it. Just a thought.

If your coin changer got backe up into the mech. You may have thought you cleared it but there may be coins din the internal chute that leads to the coin box. Take the changer out of the machine. Remove the acceptor (top part) and make sure there are noe coins in the area below the acceptor.

The machine is a Rowe International and I am certain that there are no coins lodged anywhere. I don't think I included the bill adaptor type. It is a MEI model VN2501 U3.

Thanks again.

It could either be the mother board or the coin mech. Those would probably be the two most likely components. I would start with the changer, its cheaper. If you have an extra coin mech, try swapping them out and see what happens. If you need a coin mech, we sell them completely rebuilt for $79.00. We also repair them for $25.00 plus parts. Our number is 970-283-5634. If you want to try your mother board, then you could send it to Vendor's Exchange and they can repair and check it.

What model of Rowe? Is there an error code on the machine? Can you be positive the prices had not changed before you pushed reset? Do you know how to read the error codes? I'm going out on a limb and say I think the control board battery is bad that is the only reason without major issues for the prices to change. If pricing fails it defaults to zero and the mech will not accept coins also battery failure will cause control board issues. But it should come up in an error code. Just a thought.

Thanks for your patience. I believe the model of the Rowe is a 4900 series. I can't find anything that specifically says "model-####". I did find the serial number and it started with 4900- five digits. Also the control assembly says 4900 control assembly (493-1500) so I am assuming that is the model.

When I left work Saturday the machine was working fine. I returned Tuesday to find a note tapes to the glass saying out of order. I then tested it by inserting a dollar and it worked fine for me. I noticed the machine was missing an item from the first slot and the machine was slanted from its normal resting spot. I assume someone rocked the machine again. I later confirmed that it was. The guy said it took his money and registeredthe money but the item got stuck and didn't drop. He shook the machone to get it to drop along with a freebie. I assume after that is when it stopped registering money.

As I mentioned earlier, when I arrived and saw the note I didn't do anything to the machine prior to putting a dollar bill in and it worked. It has continued to work since Tuesday.

Hopefully that is the correct model number. Thanks again in advance.

I did some more research. It appears the model is a Rowe 4935s. I was so focused on the coin mech and the bill adaptor and finding info on the internet on those specific items, I never looked up the machine itself. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

I was able to download the manual for the machine. Obviously, it was very informative. I was able to ascertain how to read the error codes. The only error code showing is Er 80. It directs me to check the connection at P7 and P4 relating to the wiring between the OCA controller and main controller. I checked the both connectors appear to be seat properly. I am not certain how to determine which is bad. Any suggestions?

rogerdowling, stop SPAMing the boards with useless dribble trying to promote your signature line where you are selling machines.

Put your "helpful hat" on and give some solid advice and if you happen to make a sell because people like you, think you are knowledgeable, etc then great.

This board is designed to help people with knowledge about vending not a SPAM site to try and catch a sale. I have made plenty of sales on this board but it was from people emailing me and say "you seem to know a lot about vending and I was wondering what services you offer and how do I get, ____ from you.
