I recently acquired two machines that have guaranteed delivery systems. One is a two piece side-by-side USI combo with iVend and the other is an AMS 39-640 with Sensit. Most of my vended items vend best when the spiral is set at the 6 o'clock position with a pusher placed at 12 o'clock. So as part of my normal routine to get a snack machine ready, I would manually reset all the spirals to 6 o'clock. When it came time to test vend each slot (with an item in the spiral), I noticed that some of the spirals would not return to 6 o'clock after it completes a vend. That happens on both the USI and the AMS. Because they both have guaranteed delivery, I am assuming that this problem has something to do with guaranteed delivery. How can I make it so that the spiral returns to its original position after each vend?

I'm not sure why you think homing to 6 o'clock is important when you have a guranteed vend. You will have to turn off the ivend or sensit then the motor will operatte off the motor switch. Just a thought.

With some items, if the spiral does not return to 6 o'clock (or whatever is the most optimal spiral position for that item), the next item up after the vend might not be held securely by the spiral and as a result will be more likely to fall to the delivery bay with just a slight shake of the machine. The next customer will not be cheated because of the guaranteed delivery feature, but I'll lose an item without being paid. I noticed this once when a Twix fell down after a slight shake. These two machines are my first ones with iVend and Sensit, so I'm not by any means an expert on iVend and Sensit and I may be missing something. However, I also have an AP Studio 2D with GoldenEye that does not have this annoying problem. Is it just the nature of the beast, a design flaw, that one must live with if you want iVend or Sensit?

Sometimes they will get out of wack when something misvends. Try opening the door and put it in service mode and test vend the selection. The spiral should rotate and pause when it reaches the home position. Just before it does that pause, pass your hand in front of the eye to make the machine think something fell. Then it should stop at the home position.

The AMS Sens-it and the USI I-Vend do not home the motors. They are controlled by the vend sensors. It is just a design flaw of those units. It does make them appear a bit sloppy looking, but as long as the sensors work, that is the important part of the equation. AP and National machines do home the motors.
