I am, very preliminarily, looking at buying an existing route with locations. The vendor is selling his own candy/snack machines and the "right" to take over the lease of a Coke and a Pepsi machine he has.

My question is, how do agreements with the Big Two work? What are their minimums? Do you buy the product from them monthly or weekly? Should I assume you have to buy it at the local Coke/Pepsi location?

Anybody out there involved with Coke or Pepsi and could give me a little more guidance?

That kind of leasing is called 3d party vending. There normally are maximum order limits. Also note, you CANNOT sell Coke products in a Pepsi machine, or v/v. When leasing from Coke and Pepsi, you may only sell their products. That can be a problem if your location asks for something different. 3d party vending can be profitable and is easier, because you don't have to front costs for machines, but you have more freedom with your own machines.
