I started an Honor Box Vending business this year. I have been adding accounts slowly and have 26 boxes out now. I have dropped the bad accounts and those 26 are good accounts. I have a few wanting me to add Soda Vending. I started the Honor Boxes because I didn't want to pay for, maintain, move, etc. the machines. I find the honor system works most of the time, and when it doesn't I just pull the box and locate it someplace else. I know sodas are more profitable, but I still don't want to get into machines. What are the thoughts on this forum about a simple cooler with sodas on the Honor System? I would only place them in the good accounts that have already proven to be a good Honor Box Account. I did a search on the web for this type of Soda Vending and came up with nothing. Thanks' Terry

I guess I just don't see how that could work because the ice would melt in your coolers and it would be more trouble than it's worth to refill them with ice all the time.
I think it's a good idea, in theory. But i'm just not sure there's a way to make it happen that wouldn't be too much of a hassle.

if you don't want to get into big machines, have you seen the wall or counter units? most are manual, but there's still some electric units as well. these don't cost near as much as large machines either, so that would be a big plus

I am sorry, I was looking into electric cooler units. I have found small counter top units that hold 56 - 72 12 oz. cans, with a glass front. They look very nice and are a lot less expensive than a vending machine. I have read some negative stuff on here about honor vending, but it is working for me and I think sodas in some of my good locations would do even better.

Adding "honor beverage" is pretty easy and can be profitable. Best and cheapest way to do this is standard dorm room type fridges. You can buy them new for around $100 or on Craigslist even cheaper. Get you a nice vinyl decal done with your logo to put on the fronts of them to make it look professional. Dont get to crazy with selections offered. I would start 5 to 6 different varieties along with bottle water to start. See how that goes before carrying to much inventory.

Charge at least .75 per can and $1.00 for bottled water. At these prices you can afford to have a few walk off.

Thank you for the reply. I am planning to do exactly what you described. The first Honor Beverage cooler goes out next Tuesday. I am doing 4 varieties and bottle water. They look good and I am hopeful.

I get the boxes here www.vending-business-information.com They are less then $5.00 each. I like them a lot.

So far the best sellers for me are the candy bars, they sell twice as fast as anything else. The Ranch Doritos actually sell good. The box in the picture is one I place in the local Cottman Transmission shop, the guys like the crackers, peanuts and SlimJims there. The boxes for Salons and such I put less Slimjims and Peanuts and add Oreo Cookies and Certs.

Looks like a good source for honor box vending supplies and information. I will keep their info for future reference.

Have you tried Rice Krispy Treats? They usually sell pretty good. Also Nutter Butter cookies sell well and can be bought at Sams in the sleeve style like Oreos.
