Well I think I found the problem with my DN600E. It stopped taking coins, so I took the Mars coin mech apart and found that someone used hot glue to repair one of the magnent things. I want to replace the coin mech, but I'm not sure which one I have. As stated above I have a DN600E multi-price, 8 narrow, 1 wide, and the coin mech is a Mars unit with a black plug. I've seen them on ebay but the one with a black plug is for single price. Anyone help out please?

I believe the coin mech for the DN600 would be a MEI TRC6000 or a Coinco 9300L. They are controller mechs that work with multi-price machines. They are 110VAC. The unit you have should have a label on the side of the mech giving the model number, serial number and voltage. The "hot glue" looking repair to the magnetic disc is a common practice for repairs. I don't believe that would be the problem alone. I think you should find a replacement mech for about $60 online.

Hope this helps you

I forgot to mention that the disc is broken and loose. You can see the windings and they are loose and broken. It looks as though the repair failed to keep the disc in place, allowing it to move and breaking the tiny wires. Unless by chance the wires were making contact sometimes, and sometimes not. This hopfully would explain why this unit would stop taking any money and display "try another selection" on all buttons.

If you put the model number of the changer up, we can tell you the various replacements that will work. You can then check around and find one that you feel is the best value for the money...ie warranty, etc. Hot glue is used to hold the coils in the lids and deck of the MEI coin mechs. If the coil has a crack, then you have a problem. It may just need tuning and you can do that yourself. There are many posts on this site how to do that. Hope this helps.

You don't need a complete mech all you need is the acceptor. Unless the wires are broke you can probably retune that one. Just a thought.

Here is the tuning procedure:

-Remove power to the changer.

-Unlatch and remove or lower the acceptor, but keep it plugged into the changer.

-Near the bottom of the flight deck board behind the acceptor, you will find two metal pins protruding out of a small opening in the board cover.

-Using a screwdriver, short those two pins with the screwdriver by touching them both at the same time with the driver point.

-Hold the screwdriver in place, and apply power to the unit.

-Hold screwdriver in place for about 5 seconds after applying power, then remove and shut the acceptor as normal.

-Insert slowly in this order, 2 nickels, 2 dimes, 2 quarters, and 2 dollar coins. If you do not want the unit to accept dollar coins, then instead of inserting two of them at the end, press the escrow return lever twice.

-After the return lever has been pressed twice, or the last two dollar coins inserted, then the nickel tube should eject once.

-Turn off the power, and reapply. Test the unit.

NOTE:

During the tuning procedure, ALL coins should drop all the way through the changer, and none should be accepted. If some are accepted, then you did not short the pins properly. Cut the power, and try again.

Also, instead of buying a whole new acceptor, you could just buy the acceptor gate and replace that. It is harder than replacing the whole acceptor, but it is about $15.00-$25.00 cheaper depending on where you buy your parts. We sell the acceptors for the 110 volt units for $30.00 each, and the gates for $16.00.

OK, I did the tuning procedure but when I got to "nickel tube should eject once", it didn't. I tryed this procedure twice with the same results. I then unplugged the whole machine, went into "diag", went to "coin mech test", and it showed the value of the coins I inserted, and ejected them upon my request. Now everything works fine.
I don't understand why this machine does this. My usual problem with this machine is that it occasionally will not accept any money, and when any selection is pressed it displays "try another selection".
What should I do the next time?

Ok, now I'm really getting frustrated with this s***. It's doing the same 'old' thing again. No money accepted and "try another selection". Here is what the lights are doing:

#1 With the outter door open and the inner door open there are no lights on the outside of the bill accepter, and the red light on the inside of the bill accepter flashes 2 times, pause, 2 times, pause, ect.

#2 With the outter door open but the inner door switch pressed, the outter bill accepter lights flash 1, pause, flash 2, pause, ect., and the inner red light flashes 1 long, then 1 short, ect.

I went through "diag" again to check the bill accepter and coin mech, and both work as they should from there.

WHAT'S UP WITH THIS MACHINE?????? NEED MORE HELP!!!!!

I'd go all out and get a new mech and a new main board. It will be much easier to solve your problem that way. If the changer isn't tuning right, then you may have board problems inside the changer. Try these first:

-Complete the tuning procedure and power down, then power back up the unit. See if it made a difference regardless.

-If the above doesn't work, try the normal tuning procedure again, and press the escrow return lever a few more times at the end. See if the nickel tube ejects. If nothing changes, replace the changer and see if there is a difference.

If you don't have any extra changers, I can ship one out within 12 hours of you placing an order for $79 plus $14.20 expedited shipping. It would be easier then looking and waiting for one somewhere else. Just an offer! I have 9300-Ls and TRC-6000s available. 970-283-5634.

Well I checked the machine tonight and it works fine...................................I guess I'll never really know whats wrong with it unless I start throwing parts at it.

Well I checked the machine tonight and it works fine...................................I guess I'll never really know whats wrong with it unless I start throwing parts at it.

Why would you take good parts and put them in a machine that is already creating bad parts? Especially electronic parts electronics don't wear out they blow up and something causes them to let the magic smoke out. Unless your real rich send equipment to someone that can tell you what is blown up and if something in your machine caused it. Doing advanced replacement is quick but 75% of the time you'll blow up the replacement.
Since the machine does work on occasion I'm going to say nothing is blown up you just need to find what the issue is I know its frustrating but we can figure it out.
Note: When shorting the pins to tune you need to leave them shorted longer than 5 sec that machine goes through a diagnostic when powering up which takes longer than 5 sec generally 20 secs is sufficient if it still doesn't tune longer is ok.
Note: 2 flashes on vali means it is disabled from mech. So unless your coin tubes are empty there are other issues. It could be a vend cancellation problem which could be why when you put it in diagnostic it cancels vend which will let it work again.
Note: Since it has 8 single columns I would bet my last paycheck (which was back in 1978) that you have a bent trough in at least one of the selections if not all of them. Thats why you get "make another selection" opening and closing inner door can re home those selections.
Note: Since it is a multi price machine each selection is isolated and since there are many different configurations of vend complete circuits I need to know how many switches are mounted on the vend motor?
Just a thought.

Here we go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will not accept any money, coin or bills, and displays "sold out" occasionally. The bill lights flash twice and pause, and the coin light does the same. When you press a vend button it displays "try another selection" when it should display the set price. Ahh but when I try to enter daignostics (HD) it displays a code "55-7" or "SS-7". Then when I press a vend button it displays "HD", but will not go into diagnostics.......oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive tried unpluging the unit in hopes it would reset but no luck. I removed the main board and re-installed it, but no good.
Maybe I should just replace the main board and the coin changer.........................................................................................

Try the main board first. Do you have an S2D board in there? If you need a changer, I can get one shipped out to you for about $80 shipped ASAP. They are refurbished and sold with a 2 month warranty. My number is 970-623-1272.
