I just bought this machine very cheap and it needs a coin mech and dollar validator. What would be the best ones to buy?
A Mars coin mech and a VN 2000 series validator would be the best you could do. Is it a single price or a multi-price?

they say "multi price capeable" which model Mars?
That would be a Mars TRC-6000. Coinco's version is the 9300-L. If it is a 110 volt machine, then it would need a Mars VN 2501 or a 2511. The only difference is the bezel type. The 2511 is commonly used in soda machines.

You should be able to get that information from the company you purchased the units from. Also go to www.meiglobal.com and they have installation instructions. I know whenever we sell units, we always try to make sure either the person wants spares, or is certain the units are faulty. This keeps customers from having the same problem, even with "new" units.I bought the Mars TRC 6000 and the Mars VN2501. Not sure if they will come with installation instructions. I have never installed any of these. How difficult is it? Does anyone have any instructions? What about setting them up and setting this machine?

If you bought a Mars 2000 series validator, then there is no extra box. That feature is mainly found on Coinco units. As far as harnessing goes, what do have right now? And what machine are they going in, and what is already (or was) in there? You will need a power harness at least for the validator. No extra harnessing for the changer most likely will be needed.
I called a company in Dallas that sells parts for vending machines, my harness will be here tomorrow. By the way this is for a DN 501-E (20 oz. bottle machine)that I purchased. It has never had a coin mech or validator installed. According to the machine itself it has only performed 308 vends in its lifetime and 0 sales. I paid $246 for it. It still has the protective paper over the graphics on the sides of the machine.
