Hey,

I am new to this business and trying to find out more about it. I could not find some information that I am looking for. I was wondering if a license is required in GA, and do I have to open a business, sole/LLC? If so, which is recommended, sole or LLC?

Hey there. In the beginning just do a sole proprietorship. It's not worth incorporating in the beginning. As far as licenses go each county is different. Again, when you start out, I wouldn't even worry about it. No one asks for them. And I've never heard of someone getting shut down because they didn't have one. Although I'm sure they are a good idea to have haha. Good luck.

If you're serious about your business, make the commitment to it by being legal. Check out your state website for licensing information. At the very least you should obtain a license to operate vending machines in your area. This is usually pretty cheap, only $3 per year per machine where I am. Once you grow you can then consider whether or not to incorporate. Do yourself a favor and make sure you meet the minimum requirements of your city or town. When you are legal it shows others that you are serious about your business and your sense of pride will expand as your business grows.

How many machines do you currently run kaiwa?

I currently have none :), but plan on starting it very soon. I am so tired from my full time job right now, and do not have time to get my licenses or call about it because they close by the time I get off. I am in the process of getting my application in for NCCS, and my friend who has been assisting me, is going to be providing me with a Uturn vending machine for $400. It has 8 different compartments, he currently has 17 and is doing real well, with no licenses. He is averaging $80 a month on one of them at the dealership. And the others he did not mention. Otherwise, what are some good tips to getting started. Also what is the best way to approach the owner?

Ok, I say the best tip to getting started is not to get a UTURN. They are bigger and therefor harder to place. It's up to you. I'm sure $80 isn't his average on his UTURNS. Get a $100 machine and try and average $30 a month. That is a much better deal ; )

yes i am getting the uturn for $400 only because its a friend of mine. He currently has 17 out at different dealerships and averaging $80. Several are averaging $120. Do you all have any recommendations of where to get smaller and better machines at good prices ???

www.gumball-machine.com has low prices.
If a U-TURN is doing well then so will a double / triple head. You will most likely make the same money. It has a lot more to do with the location than the machine.
$400 is a lot for a UTURN. Look on eBay, they come up used everyday. People are dumping them fast!

Buy one on eBay. The completed listings are showing that they sell for anywhere between $50 and $150. Even after shipping its no where near $400.

Unfortunaltey, that doesn't mean that they are worth $800.

I'm not too familiar with these although I have heard that they are sub-par quality (plastic mech's) and hard to service so i'm not quite sure how they are fetching $800 new. Sounds like they are marketing to novices and conning people out of $800. There is something to be said about the fact that you can pick one up all day long online for $100.

Kyle please provide the website. I would like to see what people are paying $800 for. Not that I don't believe you, as you may think, I'm just curious.

They don't list the price on their website. People would be run away too fast. You have to call for information.

Yeah, I googled them and noticed the same. I also noticed the word "OPPORTUNITY" plastered all over their website. Big red flag in my mind.

I guess they have to keep them all plastic to keep the weight down. You know, it's not a half bad concept. Making $100 per vending machine instead of $20 or $30 a month. However, finding locations would seem quite a bit harder for me. If you buy them on eBay and get high traffic locations you might have an incredible ROI. $100 GROSS per month on a $150 eBay machine... mmm, Maybe something to get into.

Well, I guess I will experiment with this machine and see how it does. I Found a location today, and its inside of Toyota Dealership, so hopefully this will do good. This is one of the highest flowing Toyota in GA, also. I am getting prepared and will be putting it out this week.

Nice, a car dealership should do great. How did you manage to secure that location?

Wait, where did you get $100 a month? Just because you have more selections, does not mean you will sell more! OVER KILL my good friend.

U-Tuns are a piece of CRAP and I will leave it at that. I will not go into why but the word PLASTIC sums it all up! If you use U-Turns expect to come back to a beaten, broken, batterd machine. All U-Turns are are a piece of crap. I had one, sold it 3 months after I bought it. Just a cheap, crappy, always something broken machine.

Rob,

I have several car dealerships. There one of the EASIEST places to get. I have 5 other machines in a place with me. 5 different people, with 5 double/triple head charity machines! Does that tell you anything?

Well, Everyone please prepare yourselves. I'm about to do something that very rarely happens. My suggestion to you all is to copy and paste this post and save it to your computer somewhere. Well here it comes....

Kyle, I actually, whole heartedly agree with your entire post! The idea of more product doesn't always mean more sales is one that I've tried to convey to many. I know we don't agree on alot but as you know, I love debate and always welcome your thoughts. Lets try not to let this happen again!

thats funny a friend of mine has a route with about 130 u turns. that route runs about $8,000 amonth. all of the machines have been on the route for 5 years. they are about the only machines that could be used on this type of route. very minimal break downs. i think some people talk about things they dont know much about. i would take that route any day of the week.

Waite "pusherman" I have been in this business for 7 years. I would say I know a heck of a lot about this business than you do. Your friend with the 180 U-Turns is very lucky. I will say this: You do not question my knowledge, because you have NEVER used one. I want to stress to ALL that U-Turns are a piece of CRAP. U-Turns come before Seaga on my list...and we all know how I feel about Seagas. U-Turns are at the very bottom. After Vendstar, and after Seaga. CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!!!!!!!!!

wow kyle no need to get so defensive. no one is questioning your knowledge. do not question mine. i have posted several posts to you on another board and been supportive of you in all of them, when some others were not. just trying to say that not everyone on here has run evey type of bulk vendor, yet everyone wants to be the expert on every subject. not neccessarily meaning you. calm down you are too young to have high blood pressure.

also i am not saying to buy uturns from them new and build a route, it would cost a fortune. but like alot of other machines they do have their place.
