Hello,

 

I have an older 501E with Pepsi front and I would like to set it up to accept the new $5.  It currently has a Coinco BA36 bill acceptor and Coinco Pro 3 coin mech.  I know I will need to update the bill acceptor, but do I also need to install an updated coin mech?   Also, are there any setting in the config that need to be changed?

Hi Doug. Your validator will need to be upgraded to a later model to accept 5's. You don't need to change anything in the machine programming and you can continue to use your 3 tube coin mech until a lot of 5's get used and your changer gets depleted of change. Most locations don't use many 5's so your 3 tubes may be all you need. If you do begin to run low on change on a regular basis then you can switch to a 4 tube mech with an extra tube of quarters in it.
