I am getting into the beverage vending business with Saeco Barista vending machines... I have dollar bill changers on 2 of them from Coinco... I would like to use MEI bill acceptors, but the connection is different... Is there any way to interchange the bill acceptor from a Coinco to a MEI??? How would I have to set up the cable??? Can anyone help???

It would be much faster if you could call me so that I could get the info. Yes, it is possible, and we have the validators and harnessing that is required. 970-283-5634.

You do not need to call anyone to get information on this forum that I have seen. Just post some specifics such as the coin mech model that it is connected to and all you may need is the correct switch settings.

Well, the bill acceptor that is currently installed is a Coinco model BA30B... I would like to put a MEI AE2411U5 on this, however the cable hook up is different... I also need to mention there is a coinco coin acceptor installed as well... The cable connects both the coin and bill acceptor together, then has another connection leading up to the PCB inside the machine... What I'm hoping is that it's just a simple cable change, but I could be wrong...

Could you supply the model number of the coin mech, that would be helpful.

Your Coinco changer is a MDB unit. If you have an MDB cable for the MEI, they will plug right in to each other and you will be set to go.

But is the bill changer I have an MDB unit... I've been told no, so I would have to buy a whole new bill validator...

Your changer is an MDB unit. You need an MEI MDB Y harness, Vendors Exchanger has them. Their number is 1-800-321-2311. The part number for the harness is VE7556. You can keep the CoinCo changer in there, and upgrade to a Mars VN 2502 or a 2512 bill validator. You will then be set to go.

You wanted to upgrade to a Mars validator, so you will be taking the CoinCo validator out anyway. The Mars Y harness from Vendor's Exchange will only work on Mars validators, like the VN.

I'm sorry, I misread your MEI model number and thought it was a 24V, which would only need a harness. As posted by H4UV, you would need a MEI VN2502, or 2512.

Ok, another question concerning the same kind of machine... On a completely different machine, I'm now getting a "No Link" error which means the MDB cable that runs from the PC board to the coin mech isn't being recognized... I've tested it on a different machine, and I get the same error, so I'm lead to believe it's a bad cable... Is there anyplace I can go to get this cable from other than the manufacturer... They're a little on the extreme expensive side when it comes to spare parts and was hoping I could find it someplace else...

Any suggestions???

First of all, do you mean the MDB Y harness, or the main 6 hole MDB harness coming from the board? We sell the Mars MDB Y harness for $24.99 plus $3.50 shipping. If you need the main MDB cable from the board, try Vendor's Exchange. They might be a little cheaper. Their number is 1-800-321-2311.

Thanks for the info!!!

That looks like the right one, however it doesn't appear to be long enough from the picture... I'll have to contact them to see how long it is..

When you are using MDB, you are just adding devices to a series of connections. The harness you looked at is the MEI factory harness. If the coin mech is MDB you usually do not need a long cable to hook into the MDB line as the coin mech and bill acceptor are usually mounted in close proximity.

Here is a fun Poll to see which validator manufacture is the best. :)
