I have a mixed bag of snack machines. In buying more, I would like to standardize as much as possible. I have good luck with USI models for small venues and recently bought a 3129. I have been impressed with the features and operation.  Is there a similar machine of other manufacturers to consider that is maybe older and less expensive. I have a similar situation with drink machines with  some Vendo 721s. Love them but cost prohibiting for smaller accounts.  Maybe I am chasing something that just can't be reasonably standardized.  I keep thinking of Southwest Airlines...same model aircraft, training and maintenance equals reliability and economy.  I haven't been around long enough to know if there is a snack machine that is a workhorse like the DN 501. Still trying to learn.

To keep costs down and to serve smaller accounts you should consider single price soda machines with 6 or 8 selections. Like your 501 machines DN made a few million 368s and 276s that are still workhorse machines. They are 2 cans deep and work very well. Vendo made a V407 that would do the same job for you but when looking at older Vendos you have to be certain that there is a vend rotor in every column. Earlier models of Vendos had terrible vend mechanisms and you don't want any of them.

For snacks, some of the best machines made and still supported with parts are the AP 6600 and 7600. The 6600s are 4 wide machines and the 7600s are 5 wides. They are very plentiful and with a refurbishment they can look very nice.
