Hello again...I posted a question about an AP 4000 a while ago and have seen two other posts...one last May with a similar problem with no responses. One more recently with lots of attention but a different/related issue.
The machine was freezing up after a few bills were put in the bill validator. If I cut power and reset it it would work for a while and then act up again. Recently, it has been on good behavior for a couple of months...then it started again...would freeze up and random numbers would appear on the display. The numbers seemed to be related to buttons patrons would push after losing a dollar.
I changed the bill validator but had the same problem. I then learned that the bill validator is controled by the coin mech, so I changed that too. Same problem. The machine continues to take coins and works well with them but not bills.
Previous post on this topic suggested a new main logic board. However, I learned also that the bill vali in this machine is controlled by an after market logic board. Question is this: is it the after market board that needs to be replaced...not the main board? If so, where do I find one?
As an added bit of info, the last person posting problems with a 4000 posted a picture of the after market board in his machine and mentioned two red LED lights. Mine has two lights, but only one is on. Finally, I took a couple of flash pictures of the boards...the machine started beeping and all of the prices reset. Was this the result of the flash or just a coincidence?
I look forward to your impressions and advice.
Regards,
Vic
