Hi, We got a Dixie Narco 501 and managed to load 4 of the single columns with soda cans. Now here is the problem! On these - I think double columns, there are these metal plates at the bottom. If we load cans there is no way the cans will dispense. If we remove them and hit the selector switch, one can will dispense and then when we hit the selector switch again 2 cans dispense! Those metal plates are really confusing us. There are 2 of them in the column. To top it off we are auto mechanics and none of us can figure this out! PS I think we loaded the soda cans in the single column the wrong way! Just goes to show we are really newbies!

I think those are the side shims ...... Is that a 2 can deep or 3 can deep machine?

Hi Ven1ng, thanks for the reply. I believe its 3 can deep because that's how we filled the 4 columns next to it. Ok so these side shims go on the side and not flat like they are pictured? I'll try this and see what happens. There are two shims in the column and each shim has an edge to it. When we put the shim on the side does the edge face up or face down? I'll keep my soda cans crossed!

looks like shims for a bottle machine, you should check dixie narco's website their tech support section has a section called
"package set up" which explains how to set up any machine for any size package it will accept. also the directions may be
on the inner door. also verify the cam settings are not set for bottles if its dispensing too many cans

the dixie narco website did provide some help. I did not see any directions on the inner door except for programming the control board. I am going to check the settings for the cam ( i think i know how to do it!)
the thing that is throwing me off is these shims. I cannot understand the purpose or how to install these shims. when i take the shims out the oscillator bar rotates but it should stop in either and extreme left or right position so that i can load the cans. instead it just stops in the middle. i'm going to see what happens and will update you all. Thanks for all the guidance and hopefully i can get to work on fixing cars after i figure this out!

Ok figured it out. Those metal shims go on the side with the wide square end going vertical on each side of the column. Then you stack the cans and voila they dispense. That was'nt too hard! Now I need to figure out why those tube lights are not working! Thanks for all the help

Glad we could help....lol....you do need to turn the tabs in when stacking your cans. Just a thought.
