I have an older Dixie Narco machine in my garage that hadn't been hooked up in years. I plugged it in a couple of weeks ago and put some cans of soda in it, and it was working great. The buttons on the front had yellowed though, so I purchased some new ones online. When they arrived this past week, I began replacing them. I got through 5, and then it was getting late, so I closed it up for the night. I went to get a soda using one of the new buttons, and nothing. So I tried one of the old buttons, but nothing....

I'm not sure what I've done. I checked all of the wires to make sure I didn't accidentally disconnect something. Everything appears to be hooked up. The empty light still shows on the selections where it should.

Machine is a Dixie Narco DNCB348 206/10. Coin mech is Coinco S75-9800B.

Where should I begin?

Thanks for any help!

Behind the buttons there are selection swithes that the button pushes against. They look like little black boxes with a nipple. Do these new buttons still make contact with these switches? When you push the button it should push this little nipple in. The only thing i can think of is that your new buton aren't making contact.

Yeah, they are. I've only done 5 of them, and the other 5 that are untouched aren't working either. I was looking at it a little bit more last night and noticed that the ground wire on the back of the door where the coin mechanism is was severed. I don't recall seeing that before. I wonder if I shorted it out somehow.

Any way to tell for sure if the problem is the coin mech?

I would def at least put some electrical tape around the severed wire. I am fairly new to vending myself. Try unplugging the machine and plugging it back in. Sometimes this works ( i dont know why). To see if its the coin mech I would usually rely on testing it by swaping it with one that I knew worked or would take it to get serviced. Is your coin mech accepting the coins or is it kicking them back to you? If its kicking them back them back to ou then is think theres a good chance its your coin mech. If its not your coin mech then I am not sure what it could be. Try Dixie Narco Tech support and explain your problem to them. : (800) 688-9090.

I tried the unplugging and plugging back in. I'm not that lucky. :-P The coin mech does actually take the money.

Thanks for the tech support number. I'll give them a call tomorrow! Much appreciated!

When you put in amount for a vend will it take anymore change? When vend amount is put in the credit relay should pull in and changer won't take anymore change. If relay pulls in and releases the problem is in switches on vend motors. The selection switches are wired in series, so if one wire is off or broke it won't vend. Try vending each column by hand..(motor switch) and make sure each stops in standby position.

It will actually continue to take money no matter how much you put in, and doesn't return any if you hit the lever.

Sounds like a bad coin changer. Look behind the rejector (top coin guide held in by clips on top of changer) and you will see the CREM coils. Are they staying pulled in when you put coins in or does it release and pull back in after vend amount is used?

It stays pulled in. It only releases if I unplug the machine.

Sounds like your changer isn't giving a credit. Try moving the pricing switches back and forth. It could be a bad connection on board connector or price switches. Turn all price switches off and just turn first switch on for 5 cent price. Try dropping 5 cents thru and watch CREM fingers. To check without changer, on the plug changer plugs into, jump pins 1 & 7 and momentary jump pin 1 to 3.

I set it to 5 cents, but still didn't work. So I made some jumper wires and tried it that way and it works just fine. Any harm in leaving them hooked in all the time so it's just a free vend?

Thanks a ton for your help!

That shows that your changer is not giving a credit for some reason. You need to put a push button momentary switch between pins 1 & 3 to keep from burning out your credit relay. You could also tie down your credit relay with a rubber band or tap and don't use pin 3.

Most credit relays for D/N are located close to the coin changer. If you push a credit you should hear it pull in. It has a plastic case over it and plugs into a socket like a old vaccum tube.

I am having the same issue except i am running a S75-9800B on a CVC-280. I have set the vend price to $0.05 and the machine accepts the nickels however will not activate the actuators when the product button is pressed. I have verified that the vend motors are working (manually tripping the switch). I attempted to follow the troubleshooting steps that are here already, but am unsure of how to jump the connector.
