Trying to connect a bill validator. Please help.

03 November 2016 - 08:35 AM

Hey guys I'm new to this so bare with me.

I have a Glassfront 3076 Model vending machine with a Coinco 9300 Series coin mechanism. I'm trying for the life of me to hook up a bill validator. I have a Mars VN 24 volt bill validator that I cannot get to work. It won't stop blinking double red meaning Disabled from Mech/Vmc. I read the manual and cleaned and filled the coin slots in the coin mechanism. The front display stopped saying "exact change only" after I filled the coins with quarters dimes and nickels, but validator still blinks double red. It won't even take a dollar and spit it out, it just doesn't do anything. Any help on how to get this to work would greatly be appreciated.

Questions
- what connection cables do I need? I have a Mars to Maka cable running from the validator and connect to two connectors ( one 6 prong and one 4 prong) to the machine. Is that all I need? There seems to be a spot on the validator to accept another thinner but longer plug. (Wish I could post pictures)
- is this the right validator? The manual says I need a 24 volt validator. That's what I have.
- what other things can cause the double red blink " disabled from mech/Vmc" to happen? The coin mechanism seems to be working properly as far as accepting coins and crediting them correctly is concerned.
- what should the dip switches on the validator be at?

Again thanks for your time and help.
