Hi
I just plugged in a used Pepsi Vendo 840-79 incher with 10 select. The evaporator has frosted over. The product chute is cold, in fact the machine reads 36. Do you think the evap fan is not operating? I have a second machine doing the exact same thing? Any suggestions?
Vendo 840, 79 inch 10 select-evap fins have frost.

Three things to check for this
The evaporator Fan not running is most often the cuprit. This fan should run and I cannot stress this enough "ALWAYS" 24/7/365 Ive had some fans that shut down when they get hot and start back up when they cool down which means the fan needs to be replaced. If the fan is not running at all check the electrical connections for power.
It could also mean you have an air leak in the door. If the door is not sealing all the way around warm air will get sucked into the machine and ice up the evaporator. Put some vaseline all the way around on the door seal. Close the door up tight like you would normally. Open the door back up and check the metal where the seal should seat. If there is a spot with no vaseline on it the seal is not touching and sealing in that spot.
Check the thermostat. It could be bad letting the compressor run too long. This is the least likely of the three.

Is the whole evaporator frosted up or just one side or end? If only part of it is frosted up and not the entire coil, the machine could be low on freon.
