Hi. We recently acquired a number of Altoids machines, of which there is no longer mint gum for. We are wondering if it is possible to change the size of the drop holes so that we can place other brands in there. Right now, they do not dispense the right amount, or get stopped up. I believe they are called carousel machines, with 3 drop holes .62 inches wide. Is it possible to replace that plate, or drill the holes bigger? If so, where can I find replacement parts? We are hoping to re-use these machines. It seems a waste to have them sitting empty. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. (The machine takes one quarter. If it is possible to adjsut the assembly so that the spinner turns two notches, that would allow enough of another brand to come out. Not sure if this is possible either, though.)

I'm not familiar with these machines, but it sounds like you could just disassemble the carousel and use a drill press to drill bigger holes. Figure out the diameter you want and then make sure you have a drill bit big enough before drilling any holes.

affirmative for making the holes bigger, just make sure when you reassemble them that you align the plate properly and test at different floor angles. most installations "assume" that floors are horizontal, and even if machines were installed leveled, you never know when the administration moves them two feet left or right and ignore the balancing. lot of client frustration (and abuse on your kit) coming from something so simple to fix. good luck with it.
