Can someone tell me what the difference is between pulse and serial? I see there is an option to choose one on my National combo machine. What does it mean?

Pulse is like turning on and off a switch, i.e. 1 pulse one dollar. Serial is digital like a computer it talks in bits and bites.

Depends on the validator and harness, Which validator are you using? It will have to be a "Mars" hookup there will be a 9 pin connector and a flat black connector to be serial and connected to a mars validator. If it is a Maka hookup it will be pulse. There are exceptions so tell me what vali you have and what the harness looks like.
