Hi,
I am new to this vending business. We run a not for profit camp for "not so well of" kids and school groups. We thought it was a good idea to buy a vending machine so we bought a used Snackmart III 5000 model. Problem is it does not take 5c or $2 coins. I have advice that says to take the coin mech out and look on the back there should be many switches all pushed down. Trouble is it looks impossible to get the coin mech out.

However this is not our major problem, the major problem is someone has set the maximum vend to $2 so whenever he machine takes $2 in total, all other coins go straight to the coin return. We know how to change the prices but at the moment there is no point setting the price to any more than $2 as the machine will not accept anymore.
Can anyone help us with this problem?
Thanks

Hi, the coin mech is a NRI series G46
We actually cant seem to get this out of the machine, it appears as if you lift it up and pull it out but things stopping us from lifting it up far enough, very strange.

I don't know anything about this mech, but NRI is a Crane company. Try http://www.nationalvendors.com/
They will have contact numbers on their site and you should be able to get some help with it from the technical support department.
Good luck.

Thanks for the help, after finding some time to spend looking at it we have found out how to get the coin mech out and give it a good clean. It now accepts all coins which is great. However it will get to $2 or over and then stop accepting anything. ie if you put in $1.50 then put in a $2 coin it will accept this as $3.50 but not take anymore, however if you put in $2 and then try to add anymore it will not accept it.
Also I said it was a Snakmart III 5000, but under that it has a stamp saying model 3020. Not sure if that will change anyones knowledge?

Most coin mechs will not accept coins after you have reached the maximum vend amount. If the maximum charge for a single item is $2.00 You can put in $1.00 + $2.00 and get change, but you cannot put in $2.00 + 1.00 because the maximum had already been reached with the $2.00 coin. If you raise the price of a selection to $3.00 you should find you can put in $1.00 + .25 +.25 + 2.00 but not 1+2+.25
