I'm interested in type of vending machine gas pump which dates back to the 70's and featured an "electronic" bill acceptor / kiosk similar to those found on mondern vending machines. These gas pumps allowed the consumer to simply insert $5, $10 or $20 dollar bills into an electronic bill reader and in turn, the pump automatically calcualted the appropriate amount of fuel based on how much paper money you put into the electronic bill collector). These units were very common at unatended gas stations in remote areas all over the US and a few are still in use today. They were quite simple and not at all complex. I have no idea what the retail fuel industry "officially" called these units(?)

ANY information, leads, or how I might set up a (used) commercial gas pump to dispense fuel via an "electronic" bill collector / kiosk would be much appreciated!

I've seen these at a few places, namely "Armor" stations here in Wisconsin. They were usually in remote areas, had one or two pumps, and were totally automated. Also, they seem to have disappeared, the only thing I could find was a news brief about one being demolished. I'm not sure what their parent company was, but it's been tricky finding anything out there. The pumps themselves may still be manufactured depending on the application, but you'd need to talk to their people to know for sure.
