Hi!

I recently got a USI 3014A with a coinco coin-only validator.  I love it!  Hardest working employee to date.

I have a raspberry pi and an arduino.  I'd like to connect the control board of the USI to the raspberry pi so that the PI and the USI can talk to each other.  Then I can write programs on the pi that will change the behaviour of the USI.  For example, I want to track the inventory through the raspberry pi and have send me an email when the count is low.  I'd also like to take paypal or bitcoins online and dispense goods on the spot.

I'm looking for any of the following:

- datasheet & schematics for the control board

- an api: what I can say to the USI and how to say it, what the USI will say to me and what it means.

- a source for 5v power inside the machine I can use for the pi

If you know where I can find any of these pieces of info, please comment below with a link or something.

Thank you!

The best you're going to get is from the factory manual at www.vendnet.com , but this machine is 20+ years old.  I can guarantee you that USI won't be interested in helping you with this.  I don't really understand why you are doing this unless it's just to toy with it.  If you want remote monitoring you can convert the machine to MDB or go get a late model MDB machine and then put a remote monitoring device on it using a subscription service.  The vending industry is not much of an experimental industry.  We use the machines as they come from the factory and add aftermarket devices as needed.
