I just wanted to see if there are any kidde ride operators out there? I'm always looking for rides (new and Used) and parts too.

Not many independent Kiddie Ride Operators left in the business.

I repair them for a few operators.

Anyone want to help me with one? If it's plugged in the machine continuously runs and never stops. I heard from another operator that there is something in the coin box that resets a relay or something after 1 minute or whatever but I don't see one on this machine. I called several kiddie ride places on the web and got the ol, "send us $280 bucks and we'll send you a new board and it will work again". I guess nobody fixes things anymore No offense but for $300 I can get a another one that works locally on Craigslist. I just know it's a 3 dollar relay or part causing the problem.

What type of ride do you have (+ Manufacturer Info)and can you describe the PCB board?

Depending on the ride it is either a stuck relay, bad timer circuit, bad coin switch or a bad micro switch used to identify a stop position.

Honestly I don't know. It has a control board that's in a light brown blow molded case and another smaller board on the outside of the blow molded case. Then it has a motor of course all in the base of the unit. There is a pipe from the base to the top which houses the coin box on top. The coin box has no timer unit or anything but a coin mech and microswitch. The microswitch goes down to the base via the pipe and to the control box. If you connect the machine to power it runs forever. I heard when it started doing this the owner would lift the machine and drop it back down and it would stop this problem for a week or so but I can't find anything wrong/loose.

Well, without knowing what you have in there I would start with disconnecting one wire from the coin switch and then plug it in to see if does the same thing. Eliminate one compnent at a time.

I would also look under the ride and search for a micro switch that would be mounted on the frame. If you find one, replace this switch and with the ride on its side, verify that the ride makes contact with this switch once per revolution.

If neither of the above two solve the problem, remove the timer / sound box from the ride to gain access to the board.
Older rides may have an ice cube relay with a timer block or a rotary motor timer circuit (Just a motor that runs 1RPM for 60 seconds).

Newer style rides will have a PCB timer with the relay soldered to the board. Relays will cost you $3.00 to $28.00 depending on the type used. Look for them at Mouser Electronics (Online).

A complete new timer circuit will cost you $160.00 to $260.00 from Happ Controls and if the old one is repairable probably about $90.00 to have it repaired.
