I am looking to buy candy direct from the makers. I operate 260 machines and can buy from suppliers at least 500lb at a time. I have 800#s and have sent e-mails to them. So far no luck! Any info would be great.

I don't think you will have much luck as they tend only to deal with distributors. I've tried like you and always refered to my local dist.etc......
What kind of machines do you have??

I don't know if this is the right room for this but I have come across a great vending deal for any one interested in vending tampons for a great charity. If you are interested please e-mail me for more info.

Hi Candy Girl,

I have a very good friend at Just Born, Inc. He is their Market Insights Manager. They make Mike & Ike, Hot Tamales and other products. Here is his direct number. He will direct you to the purchasing department. He is located at the plant in Bethlehem, PA.

Just tell him that his buddy Gary sent you and hopefully you will get some help.

So I know this is an old thread, but.... Have we ever considered doing a group buy? Someone could approach a candy maker as VENDINGCHAT.COM. *The largest network of snack and soda vendors on the web* or something to that effect? I cannot buy 500lbs like CandyGirl but I do need to stock my machines for less than what I am paying now, as I'm sure everyone here does. I have been in car clubs where we do similar things... If we can get a large enough order I'm sure this would work... Unless you guys have tried before... Sorry if this is a pointless thread but I didn't see anything about group buys just scanning the site...

It is an interesting idea but the problem would be the cost of re-shipping amongst ourselves. If you can find a bunch of people in a tight area that can pick up from a central point it might work. If you have to re-ship you will likely lose the savings.

ok ok... Well, I have a FedEx contact. I'll see what I can do on the shipping end of this. I am also developing a knack for talking to people and getting what I want. However, time and contacts in the vending business are an issue for me right now, so putting together a relevant candy maker list could be difficult for me to put together. If someone could get me a list of makers current marketing and sales dept. #'s and if everyone who is interested would post up $'s that they would be willing to put into a group buy I will call around and try to get somewhere with this.

Its not going to hurt anything if we can get this forum a little more active too... browsing, I notic posts towards the top of topics that are months old... Not going to help me convince a maker that we are *the most active network of vendors on the internet* if they look at us and see lame site activity :) So POST POST POST!

I really think this could be an important move for us. After all, upfront pricing is one of the largest determining factors on how well our individual business wil succeed.

On an ending note of my rant: I would still be interested in doing this even if it costs me what I am paying for my products now. Still being small, I do most of my purchasing at Wal-Mart/Sams and I am fed up with their recent price increases and just the way they do business in general.

P.S. Could an admin get me a current active users # for the forum?

Hi,you can buy from dubble bubble and hershey, but they have a 2000 LB minimum order, yes 1 ton,you will be throwing rotten candy away before you ever use it,you have to fill out a credit app. or agree to pay cash up front. I have 1000 machines and its way too big of a order for me,did it twice, just to get the machines out and working, never again
