Rowe 548 food machine. Can't keep machine operating. Feel like I have replaced all the parts internally (so does my wallet). Machine cools after servicing, but can't reach 45 degrees within the 30 minute allotment. Reset the time delay and finally will get down below 45, but the condensor will freeze solid. Replaced thermostat, relays (even wired around them). New compressor, fan motor and evaporator motor. Help!

if it is a new unit.....and it itself is pulling a good frostline......sounds to me that you are sucking a lot of hot humid air from somewhere.....check the seals around the duct where it flows cold air into the cabinet, your main door seal...is machine at least 6 inches from wall to allow compressor to breathe/exhaust air?

if the unit is new, you can bench test it.....pull it out, apply 110volts to the unit, block evaporator fan,.........in a few minutes frost should appear "evenly" thru out the condensor....if partial....could indicate low charge........

also if you been fighting this very long...you could have ice built up on the condensor, which even tho you think you have completely defrosted it, it may not be.....

by pulling slowly to 45.....i still suspect gasket leaks pulling in hot air.......is it in a very hot place?.......rowe"s at initial start up should makw health timer very close to one cycle......

Thanks for the input. Turned master switch off for three days, unit did totally deforts. You are correct regarding the warm enviroment. A/C is controlled via a computer system elsewhere. Turns off for about 6-8 hours in the break room after the completion of one shift and beginning of the next at mid-night. I will check the seals, especially the main door seal and make sure the machine is as least 6 inches from the rear and side walls.

I agree with the above post on bench testing the unit. Our company repairs these units all the time. Check you top gaskets as suggested, but look for the "even" frost up of the evaporator coil. Half of it frosting could indicate a charge problem, however if you have an airleak and moist hot air is getting in, you are fighting a loosing battle. Check the gaskets in the machiine as well to make sure you have a good seal.

I believe the problem has be corrected. Had the refrigeration guy, no relation to the cable guy, pull the unit and bench test it. During the testing process he felt the evaporator fan was not turning fast enough. Fan was replaced about 6 months ago with a new unit. He replaced the fan, benched the unit and reinstalled. The machine has run properly for the last 10 days and I am confident the problem has been corrected. Thanks for all you help. Hope I can return the favor.
