Hello,

 

I just purchased a Royal vendor 804-12 drink machine.  It was cooling great when I bought it, but now that it is home and I turn it on I get a message "out of service" and then a code that I think reads "soft-67131-5"   This is all new to me.  When I plug it in, the motors home and the evaporator fan comes on, but the compressor does not come on, even with the door shut and after the delay period.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure the door switch is good and is being depressed when the door is closed.  If nothing changes on the display when the door is closed then look to that switch or it's wiring.  Only the switch puts the machine in the vend mode.  I does sound like it might be working though because you have the "out of service" message which won't show up when the door is open and in the service mode.  If that message only shows after you close the door then the door switch is fine.  If that's the case then you may have a bad logic board.  Out of service is a fatal error.  Assuming the door switch works and you are in the service mode when the door is open, go into the Error menu and read what the errors are so you can determine where the fatal error is.  If you can't determine anything from that then replace the board.

I had this happen once a few years ago and the chain underneath had broken so check that.
