In Topic: Gatorade and DN 501 R

09 December 2008 - 10:51 AM

I am purchasing a used DN 501 and need to vend full size Gatorade bottles. they do not seem to vend properly as they seem to be jamming. the guy setting it up for me says the bottle is too wide to vend properly. That doesnt make sense to me. Can anyone tell me if Gatorade works with a DN 501?

thanks,

I had a guy come in and set my 501 up for 16.9 sodas, 15.2 OJ, and 20 oz gatorade. He did remove the little tabs on the bottom (with pliers like you were extracting a tooth) . He said they will mess up gatorade vends. try that. And if you're doing 32 oz, check with Dixie Narco to see if it's possible.

That would be awesome, but no. Sales tax is imposed on the final sale to the consumer after everybody (especially you) has put their mark up in there. Check with your state about getting a sales tax account and other business licenses and requirements if you want to get everythnig legit. Once you get that, though, you will not need to pay sales tax at the Sam's (or where ever) on things you are reselling.

You may be able to get by as is, but my experience as a long time small business owner is: If you are ever down to a choice between feeding your family or paying your taxes... pay your taxes. All of them. On time and maintain detailed records. It can become a nightmare fast.

Ain't business fun?

Sounds like a good idea. Can you tell me where the thermostat is located and how to adjust it? I imagine its just a screw driver adjustment right?

I don't know where the thermostat is on yor machine. Your manual should spell that out. You should get one. They are most helpful. Frequently it is menu driven rather than a knob.

As for my experience with icing... It sounds like your compressor is just running too long. I would first try pre-cooling your drinks if you can. Bringing 500 80 degree cans down to 35 degrees or whatever would be quite a work out for any refrigerator.

Also check the door seals to make sure that none of the cold goodness is leaking out of the refrigeration compartment. If the seal is bad or missing, the compressor may have to work too hard.

In Topic: Bulbs For Drink machines

Where do you guys buy your bulbs for your drink machines. I am looking for 64T12's that have only the single termination on each end. The only places I can find them online you need to buy a case and I don't have a need for $200 worth of bulbs. I have tried the local electrical supplers and Lowes and HD. Any thoughts?

Thanks

JD

I just bought some at 1000bulbs.com

I was also unable to find locally. And didn't want a $120 case of the bastards.

They were about half of what some other online retails wanted for my bulbs.

I haven't received them yet so the jury is still out on whether they will arrive as an assotment of little sharp puzzle pieces.

$20 minimum
