In Topic: coke ,pepsi

I have been in business since 1991 and the 2 machines I have always used where Pepsi and Coca Cola. They are made by Vendo and Dixie Narco. In every machine I would put a row of pepsi and a row of coke. This way you will have just about everyone willing to buy a soda. Also ever machine of mine carries Mountain Dew and when it comes to diet its diet coke hands down. As far as orange and root beer its got to be Sunkist for the orange and A&w for the root beer. Now this is what works for me, you need to find out if it would work for you. Hope this helps...............Nick

Most older machines have single price coin mechs. The way to set the price is to flip open the head on the coin mech. Then you will see a row of dip switches in a row white in color. When you read the switches left to right they are 5, 10, 20, 40, 80. In this example if you want to vend at 65 cents you push up the switch number 1,3,4 which adds up to 65 cents. Hope this helps............Nick

In Topic: considering buying a route..is this a good deal?

If you live any where near Orlando you can find some real good deals on Craigs list. I have driven to Opapka to get my coin mech and validator fixed. Bought about six machines from one guy up there can't remember his name. Most of the older machines have R12 freon. Cost is to much to fix them. If a compressor goes they have a compressor deck (thats the complete unit compressor, evaporater, freon etc.) all ready to install on Ebay for $200.00. Never used him so I can't say what kind of deal that would be. I have 2 compressor decks ( 1 vendo, 1 Dixie Narco) for back ups. I did have 2 compressors replaced and that was about $300.00 each years ago. I have a machine thats been with me for over 15 years and it still has the same compressor.Sometimes you get lucky. Have a great day................Nick
In Topic: Please advise - buy soda machine? or snack machine?

Just want to put my 2 cents in. I had snack machines when I first got into the vending business today I have zero. All I deal in is soda and nothing but soda. Now you may get a location that wants a snack and soda machine. I would tell them some of my experience with snack machines and they ussually agree with me when I am done. Just like dogcow says you have to buy in bulk in order to make any kind of money with a snack machine. Then you always wind up with silent partners. Its the crawling kind like ants ,rouches, mice dropping. They really like the gum ball machines that you see all over town. Then your other silent partner is an employee that shakes the machine to get a free snack. When that happens the next guy to buy that candy is screwed. When you go to service your machine you may have a 6 foot 9 in. 275 lbs. guy looking for his refund and he doesn't like you. This is no joke it happened to me when I had cigarette machines. Its your machine so you are blamed for his lose. I would stay clear of any snack or gum ball machine even if I got them for free. All soda cans have a dates stamped on the bottom of the can but that is about six months to a year before they suppose to expire. Hardley anybody looks on the bottom of the can. Also if you have soda thats 6 months old in a machine I would change flavors or the location. I also recommend that you buy a soda machine with no less than 6 selection and have a dollar validator on it. Hope this didn't discourage you just stating facts that have happened to me over the last 19 years............Nick
