In Topic: vending machines that take credit cards?

That is pretty interesting any idea of what the cost is?

I think the hardware is around $400. There are also $10 monthly service fees for the wireless communications costs, the processing, the online reporting, etc. and there is a 5% transaction fee that goes to the credit card companies. Its a big investment, but I am only looking at putting it in my best accounts where I think it would work. I would think this does really well in colleges and accounts where you get folks who are traveling. I am still doing my research on what company looks best. If I get any confirmation on the hardware costs of some of these providers, I'll post it here.

They have the capability since everything is MDB but I believe they use another company for the processing to keep the cost down. If you do go Credit use USA techs or MEI combo, but dont use conico because I have heard they are a little iffy. Its a great idea but there are monthly costs and the hardware is expensive. We are rolling out remote monitoring on about 100 machines this winter when things cool down.

Thanks Kevin. Right now I am leaning towards USA Tech because they seem to have the most units out there and backing from some of the credit card associations and so I am assuming their hardware is reliable. Let us know how you do with your monitoring system. Eventually, I may partner the USA cashless system with Cantalope's monitoring system. I read somewhere that the systems can work together. This may be a while down the road though. One thing at a time :)

Don't you need phone lines or ethernet cables run to the machines then? Is that hard to get the facility to agree to?

No - from what I have been able to gather, a lot of these services are wireless and as long as you can get a cellular signal in the location, you don't have to run anything from the machine except power. Of course there are wires inside the machine to deal with. Here is a video that I found from USA Tech showing installation of one of their units. Not sure if this is still the unit they are selling. I think there is a more updated version... http://www.usatech.c...nstallvideo.php

Im looking into this for about 400 machines but Im going to be doing remote monitoring first. The company I chose was Inone because the hardware was a bit cheaper and more flexible and they didn't treat me like a little guy by answering all my questions. USA would be my next choice though I dont know about there remote monitoring, just know they are a really good company for vending credit. heres a good link that I started with http://directory.amo...ment/index.html I visited with alot of these companies at the spring NAMA expo. I think all the companies have something to offer and you should find the one best for what you wanna do.

Thanks Kevin. This is very helpful. Does inone let you add credit card capabilities to your remote monitoring service later if you want to go that route?
