In Topic: Getting Started Without Anything

23 August 2007 - 07:01 PM

I have read a couple of books and looked at some website including (NAMA and NVBA) but they seem to be most member driven. I am trying to find someone I can talk to about getting started in the vending business. In particular I have some specific questions:

1) How does one get a contract to vend at airports?

2) How much capital is reasonable to start with to get a business going?

3) How successful are toiletry only vending machines?

4) Does anyone have any experience with vending contracts at airports?

I am sure I will have more questions spurred on by your answers. Thanks for your help.

ASk AWay, Im sure you will get lots of responses and ideas

AS for Airports you have to talk to the Facilities manager, This is very tough account to get. Backround checks, insurance requirements Etc make is very hard to get in easily.

Capital is not important if you want to start small and grow. If you purchase an exsisting route than you need to have some $$

Toiletry does not sound like a winner to me but that is out of my relm

Good luck and Check out Vendiscuss.com for more answers to your questions. Very good Board here and there.

Hey everyone! Im a 21 year old college student, and I have been reading the forum for a week or so and I just purchased 4 bulk vending machines! They arent the best but I got four of them for cheap... $65 each. Im pretty excited to get out there and try to place them, I've already scoped out lots of place and still have lots of ideas.

I got into this because I was researching hot dog stands, but you have to have so much capital to start one.. Then I stumbled onto a post about bulk vending and started reading. I have one complaint about you guys lol. You all post on 3 or 4 forums, I have read them all and there is lots of good information, just makes it harder to find.

I plan to place them and purchase more machines after they start to get income and continue to expand from there. I think i will set a goal of 10 placed machines by the end of the year, after that I think expanding be much easier with cashflow.

Welcome to the Site. 21 Years old and Off on your own business, Good Move. Bulk vending is a good way to start a business and grow it over time. Check out as many posts as you can and dont hesitate to ask questions, Lots of them if need be. That why this forum is here. Ive been in the vending business for almost 6 years and I still ask questions.

Good luck and I wish you well.

Dave

PS - What state are you in?

Dish soap will do fine. Its good enough for your dishes and you eat off them.

Hey Rob, I love the plug there, I wonder if the mods will take issue? If not, maybe I'll add mine too

I did a load of wheels in my dishwasher as well. Hard to keep the ones on the road looking nice but I do my best. Have to run down to nothing and bring a few replacement globs, Swap out on road.

LOL you're a funny guy!
I am positive they carry 1" DB, Runts, and the 9900 count DB tab gum. They do not however carry the sams version of runts. I think those are the rascals right? The Runts are cheaper in store than the rascals are shipped I believe.

I was in Berlin Connecticut this Morning at stopped by Sam's club. They has the Runts, Chicklets and 1" Gumballs instock so I dont have to drive up to Worcester MA to get the stuff!!!

What a relief! Saves me over $70 in shipping a week as well!

yeah I hear you. Listen, if you can justify the fuel expense the Sams in Worcester carries everything you're looking for.

Also, Let me know if you would like to shed some of those locations, I dont like my competition so close! :P

Ill keep you posted :

With the current vending route I find it easier to work with local vendors instead of banging heads. Cost to much $$ to bang heads.

Im only 45 mins to Worchester so I might take a ride up this weekend. Sams Online says Worchester does not carry these items instore, Are you sure they have these there?

Most of my accounts are in Hartford area and south so I might have to have you fill up a few machines in Suffield and mail me a check if you could
