hey there i have a d-n 440 that i just recently bought. i had it plugged in all morning in the garage checking all motors and stuff it worked fine. i left and came back and it wasnt on. i hit the reset button of the gfi and plugged it back in and the machine popped it. so i unplugged the compressor and it powered up fine, then i plugged the compressor back in and to popped the gfi. my question is why would it do it all of a sudden when it worked fine all morning long, is there something that i can check, before replacing the compressor?

I'm not much of vending machine guy, but I have done electronics work for some time.
The first thing you need to do is check and make sure that you have the machine plugged into a designated outlet with nothing else running on it. 9 times out of 10 in situations like this, I go into a house or business and find out that the a/c or frige is popping breakers because there is a microwave or something on the same circuit. This would explain why it worked fine at first, but then started tripping later on.
Also, make sure the breaker running that receptacle has enough amps. You make have a 15 amp breaker on that circuit and need a 20. Same with the GFCI.
If these are not the problem, then it is most likely a problem with the relay that starts your compressor. There is no way for me (or anyone else) to know for sure without actually being there. A relay is pretty inexpensive, however, if that turns out to be your problem, but -word of warning- relays going bad are sometimes a symptom of a bad compressor.

after looking at it for awhile i traced it to a broken wire on the light bulb holder. when the door was opne it was pulled away from any metal but when the door would shut sometimes the break would make contact with the meatl causing the breaker to go, thanks for all the help and suggestions from everyone
