Somebody locally has a couple of Vendstar 3000 machines for sale really cheap. I was considering making the drive to go look at these things until I looked around on the Vendstar website and couldn't find any mention of how you can get repair and service parts. I called Vendstar and found out that you have to be the original purchaser of the machine to get parts! If you buy the machine from somebody else, and it breaks, you pretty much just have to throw it away and your investment is lost. If you happen to know who the original purchaser is, they can somehow transfer the machine into your name, and then you are eligible for replacement parts, but in this case the person who has these machines is not the original purchaser and isn't sure who the original purchaser was.

Are there any other shady companies like this that don't support their product once it leaves the original purchaser's hands? I can't afford brand new machines, and I want to make sure that if I buy a used machine that it will have parts available in case something breaks.

You get what you pay for.. Check out Beaver Equipment. Again, I have Beaver machines that are over 20 years old and run like new. Repair parts are available (cant rememeber the last time I had to purchase a part or replace something) Northwestern equipment isnt bad either. The machines you are inquiring about are junk (in my humble opinion) Good luck.

Yeah, after speaking with the Vendstar people on the phone, I agree they are not a good machine to spend my money on. I'd hate to buy a machine and a few months down the road have a coin mechanism break or something and not be able to do anything about it. I've seen on this board that Beavers, Oaks, and Northwests all have a good reputation. I'll guess I'll just have to keep my eyes and ears open for some used ones to come up for sale.

Stay away from ANY vending machine sold as a "Business Opportunity"

Here are the main players in the Bulk Vending Industry:

Northwestern
Beaver
A&A Global
Oak
OK Manufacturing
Eagle

U-turn has good machines if you can get them used. They are 700 new, as low as 150-200 used. Sturdy, and they will help you with anything you need. I got a new keyset just by remembering what the numbers were when I lost my old keyset. Also had no problem opening an account and ordering other parts. They are also space efficient and can vend 4 to 8 different choices. Vendstar sucks and I only use them because I am renting some of my machines. However, a locksmith can help you if a lock part breaks on a Vendstar. The coin mechanisms are obviously irreplacable.

You don't have to worry about vendstar anymore. They seem to have gone under. No more cheap ebay purchases anymore.
