I have a Dixie Narco coke machine that pops the GFI outlet when you plug it in. It has always been on this GFI outlet with no problem before. We had a lightning stike hit a telephone outside of our building and since then this problem has existed.

I can unplug the compressor from the coke machines power distrubution block and the machine work properly. I can plug the compressor into a seperate outlet and the compressor works fine and cools, but if i plug the compressor into the coke machine it pops the GFI. If I plug the coke machine into one outlet and the compressor into a differant outlet, the outlet I plug the compressor into will pop the GFI !! It sounds to me that the compressor is grounding out on the coke machine causing a short. Can someone help?

We had this happen to a few of our machines and we ended up have to replace the compressor each time. Our tech said it happens when the compressor is about to go.

before replacing compressor....try to find a way to plug into a non gfi plug somewhere......gfi are "mini" safety breakers and the truth on gfi's is they are designed to be very weak......after they pop a few times, they weaken, and need to be replaced themselves.....we see a lot of that......just trying to save you a little money.....it could be machine/compressor....but i would eliminate this possibility first........gfi's are cheaper than compressors....:)

Thanks Guys for your input with my problem. After checking out the GFI it was determined that that was the problem. I replaced the GFI with a standard outlet and we are back in business! Thanks for your help! James
